Terms and Conditions for Absentee Bidding
- As a service to those wishing to place bids, we may at our discretion
accept bids without charge in advance of the auction by telephone or in writing
on bidding forms available from us.
- Thompson & Riley will bid on the property indicated on the absentee bid
form up to the maximum price stated. Thompson & Riley will bid for the
absentee bidder in the increments being accepted for that item and will attempt
to obtain the item(s) as reasonably as possible (as though you were bidding
yourself). Absentee bids shall be executed in competition with other absentee
bids and bids from the audience.
- All bids must state the maximum bid price the bidder is willing to pay. In
the event identical bids are submitted, the earliest will take precedence.
- I understand that all property is sold "as is" and neither
Thompson & Riley nor the consignor makes any warranty, express or implied,
as to the fitness or condition of the property or as to the correctness of
description, genuineness, attribution, provenance or period of the property.
Inspection of the property is the sole responsibility of the
bidder/buyer.
- Successful absentee bids will be notified the next business day by phone,
fax or email. If paying by credit card, the balance of purchase price will be
charged out immediately. Unsuccessful bidders will not be notified.
- I understand that if my bid is successful, the purchase price will be the
aggregate of the final bid together with any tax due thereon and I agree to
make arrangements for immediate payment and removal of the property.
- Thompson & Riley assumes no responsibility for failure to execute these
bids for any reason whatsoever.
